"Don't Quit"
Christmas Day 2025 — For this year’s annual snap shot, the streets were empty, and the studio was welcoming and warm. We enjoyed coffee and panatone at home then walked downtown to lay on the floor to stretch, stand tall with strength, and in the face of evolving streetscapes and changing waistlines, we remain committed to our building, our health, our members and to never quit.
Don’t Quit
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
when the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile but you have to sigh,
when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must, but don't you quit.Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about when he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - you may succeed with another blow.…
Success is failure turned inside out - the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
and when you never can tell how close you are,
it may be near when it seems afar;
so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - it's when things seem worst, you must not quit.
Often attributed to another author, Edgar A. Guest wrote “Don't Quit” in the 1920s. It's a gentle reminder to us all that even the most trying of times will end, you are not alone when you feel overwhelmed, and there are opportunities to seize ahead.100 years later, the message resonates in exercise and training scenarios and the trying moments in our daily lives.
This week, on the opposite side of the “quit” coin, is the opportunity and commitment to show up every time. It may be dark, and locally it promises to be cold, but together we will stay strong and learn through life’s many twists and turns.
Take care,
