The Laws + Your Lifts

Prior to our name and business Barres and Bells, we trained under the banner LIFT Guelph. With lawyers offices below, I used to joke that “only LIFT was above the law”. Putting aside my bias for pull ups, pliés and puns — we continue to experience the interactions of the scientific and philosophic laws at our practice online, outside and in the studio.

This week get physical and move with Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion. Learn how to apply them in the practice you choose, the movements you make and the wellness we all continue to seek.

An object will stay at rest unless that state is changed by an external force.

The kettlebell needs your influence to move. Connect your mind to matter. Pick it up and carry it around to express your movements with strength.

The rate of change momentum of an object is directly proportional to the force applied.

Load to Explode and add power to your press or other favourite exercise skills. Refine tension techniques like the standing planks and learn to move with force in all vectors.

For every action in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Pull down to improve your pull-up. Push right, to move left in the movement clock. Think in opposites for stability and strength in your exercise practice and favourite lifestyle pursuits.

While the scientific laws are simple (not easy) to understand, the Laws of Attraction are also important to include in your practice and in your daily life. What do you desire to achieve in your training? Believe your training is making a difference in your life. Engage in experiences that bing your joy and progress your skills with positive thought. Use your knowledge of physics to move and apply the Laws of Attraction to your practice to stay healthy and achieve the wellness you deserve.

Take care,

Lauryn + Ian
