Training is Trying

Straining your powers of strength, mobility and endurance — training the mind and body are trying pursuits. However, trying as it may be, what are the differences between the attempts to try, versus the pursuits of training?

To “try” is to make an effort to do something in order to solve a problem — let’s try this! Or, it may describe the process of aligning an entity with an established like or dislike — does anyone care to try some Marmite?

Characterized by the initial attempt, if our established skills do not meet or exceed the expectations relative to the task, we are likely to try something different, or nothing at all. Conversely, “training” is a commitment to develop the skills and acquire the knowledge through sustained, intentional efforts and practice.

For sustainability, enjoyment and longevity of the pursuit, bridge the gap between your current abilities, goals and objectives by breaking down the task into little bits. A candidate who tries to run a marathon will have a much different experience than the candidate who begins training to run the same distance.

We hope you join us this week to either try something new or continue training to achieve your goals and the health and wellness we all deserve.

Take care,

Lauryn and Ian
